On this page, as on others, I would like to build a collection of photos of boats, each one with a caption or even a small story that I can add to over time with the help of readers. Additions can be sent as e-mails to the editor and I will add them to the appropriate boat on the appropriate list.
- Ocean Bounty: Built 1967 in North Delta BC and owned, in 1978, by Terry Hamanishi. Off Canadian register since 2011, this pic at Steveston in 2009
- Ocean Bounty troller, built Remmen Boat Workd Ltd, 1967 in North Surrey, BC At Steveston Ice dock, Paramount, Owner Philip William Geschke, Surrey, was owned in 1978 by Terry S. Hamanishi of Vancouver.
- Ocean Gambler built 1970 by Sather Boatworks of New Westminster. In 1978 owned by John Sanderson of Vancouver. BC
- Ocean Isle was built in 1965 by Alberni Engineering & Shipyard Ltd. Owned 2012 by Donald Thompson of Parksville. In 1978 she was owned by Arthur Baird of Ucluelet, BC
- Ocean Rover built 1966 by Lloyd J, Hibak, Burnaby, BC Was owned in 1978 by Allan Neave of Nanaimo
- Ocean Sunrise: built 1959 by Frank Gronlund, of Richmond for his son Morris, who later built many excellent trollers, and owned 1978 by Sam Larden, owned and fished by William Rockliffe, He says, “I am the current owner (1996-present), actively fishing her in the Area F troll salmon fishery. Of note, the Ocean Sunrise was the last boat built by Frank Gronlund, and the workmanship is outstanding. She is a fast and fishy troller!
- Ocean Twilight built Maurice Gronlund in 1966 on the North Arm of the Fraser River, still owned in 1978 by Maurice Gronlund himself
- Ocean Wonder built 1972 by Frostad, Owned by Jim of Longliner Seafoods, he sold it and it was arrested as a drug boat, later owned by Ray Phillips of Pender Hbr. In 2012 registered to Walter Piatocka of Courtenay, BC
- Oslo (ex Valorous) built 1914 in Seattle WA and rebuilt Harbour Boat builders in 1927 in Vancouver. On the Fraser River’s North Arm in 1994., owned in 1978 by Donald C. Rea, of New Westminster.
- Pacific: built 1971 beautifully maintained. Published story in Pacific Fishing magazine
- Pacific Clipper built 1963 at Osborne Shipyards Ltd. North Vancouver. owner West Way Fishing Ltd, Victoria,
- Pacific Girl built in 1946 by Henry Joe of Sarita
- Pacific Provider: Built Wahl 1966 was owned in 1978 by John Barnum of Parksville, BC
- Pacific Provider in Prince Rupert; Built Wahl 1966
- Pacific Rim: Built 1973 by Don Pearson Boat Works in Delta and owned, in 1978, by Gilbert Molner, of Vancouver
- Pacific Shadow bult 1967 by Berryman and Wallace Boats of Vancouver owned 2013 by Alexander Berger
- Pacific Shadow: Built 1967 Berryman & Wallace Boats, Vancouver, owner Gilmour Fishing Ltd. Nanaimo
- Pacific Spirit built 1979 by Sather Boatworks
- Pacific Star: Built Thames Boat works, Bowser, 1968, owner 2010 Robert Bruce Ferneyhough, Lantzville, BC
- Pacific Star built by Cyril Thames Boat Works in Bowser, BC, owner 2012 Robert Ferneyhough of Lantzville, BC. Cyril Thames made a great shear line.
- Pacific Sunrise: Built 1978 by Sather Boatworks, New Westminster, owned 2011 by Stefan Grega was owned in 1992 by Don Kaufman of Burnaby, BC
- Pacific Sunrise: Built 1978 at Sather Boatworks New Westminster. Halibut boat at Shelter Island, owner Stefan Grega.
- Pearl Sea: Built as a seiner by Erickson Bros. North Vancouver in 1925, owned Gordon Morris Cramp Gibsons. In 1978, when still a seiner, owned by Silas Olvey of Alert Bay, BC.
- Persephone II built by Bissett & Gilstein of North Vancouver in 1952
- Rendal built 1945 in Prince Rupert by Ole Wick. I remember when, 20 years ago, she was beautifully maintained on A-float at False Creek
- Rennelll Sound built by Wahl in Prince Rupert Boatyard in 1968. In 1978 she was owned by James Roberts of Prince Rupert. Canadian registry closed March 18, 2013. Is the vessel in US now?
- Rhonda Jean is a 13K registered vessel so is not on the vessel registry. Does anyone know her builder?
- Richmond Star was built by Ernest Wahl at Steveston BC in 1977. Owned 1978 and ’92 by Peter Klaui of Galiano Island. In 2013 by Susan and William Crawford.
- Rosita built 1962 by Sather Boatworks of New Westminster and owned in 2013 by Richard Burnett and Anne Turner of Alert Bay

- Sandell: Wood troller becoming pleasure boat. I was told that it is Canadian but has worked as a troller in US for a long time.

- Savary Isle: Owner Mike Pfander says: December 26, 2012 at (Edit) It’s a 42 ft Wahl built in Prince Rupert 1972.I acquired it mid November 2012 and I’m currently finishing all the interior works. She should be ready for the spring scratch and paint .Go!!
- Sea Star III: Build in Lund in 1946 by Norman Erickson, owned 2012 by Daniel Fretts of Powel River.Was owned 1978 bt Joe Korsa of Campbell River.

- Shar-Bon built 1952 in Quatsino, BC and owned in 1978 by Levi Marsh of Vancouver, In 2013 Comox based
- Shylo: Built 1965 by William A. Pedneault, Sooke, BC in 1992 still owned by the builder. Here selling Rock Fish and dungeness crab
- Silver Arrow built 1967 by Karl K Johansen at Aldergrove, BC
- Silver Mist: built 1957 by Wahl Boat Yard in Prince Rupert

- Silver Tide: Built 1964 by Cyril Thames of Bowser and owned in 1978 by Raymond Sorheim of Nanaimo
- Sky-Wes built 1966 by D. Colpman in Ucluelet BC
- Snow Pass: built in 1970 by Eric N. Suomi in Richmond. Now owned by Gordon Eric Suomi of Langley
- Spring Fever No.1 built 1979 by Sather Boatworks, New Westminster, owned by Gordon Kiyoshi Hamanishi
- Stacey Rock: built 1953 by Ralph R Corkum, owned 2012 by Gary Block of Mansons Landing, BC was owned in 1978 by of Stephen Martin of Lund, BC
- Star Ruby: built Port Alberni in 1947, owned 1978 by John Turner of Richmond, BC and suspended from registry since March 2008, converted troller
- Star Ruby: suspended from registry 2008 but glowing again. Nice to see the care.
- Ste-Bo-J: Built 1965 by Beuford Haines at Campbell River, Owned 1978 by Robert Lewis of Campbell River.
- Succeed, Build 1947,Lengthened by Wahl in 1966, Canadian registry closed October 2010. see Legacy in Wood, Ryan Wahl page 114.
- Sundance II: Built in Burnaby BC by Eddie Snitchuk and Edward D. Peniuk in 1965
- Tanika: Built 1969 by Bruce Stockand photo at Steveston BC fish market.
- Taplow: Built 1945 at Sterling Shipyards in Vancouver, rebuilt 1960, photo in Nanaimo May 2010 built as halibut boat, Designed by Robert Allan
- Thedis-Queen: Built by Cyril Thames in 1966 at Bowser, direct sales from the False Creek fish sales dock.
- Thetis Queen: Built 1966 by Cyril Thames, owned 2012 by James Michael of Black Creek
- Titanium: built 1950 by W.R. Menchions in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour. It’s all condos and plastic yachts there now. Boat owned by Frank Seabolt of North Van in 1978 and 1992 by Timothy Noot of Courtenay.
- Tsusiat II: built K. M. Boatworks, (Kuramoto & Madakoro) Vancouver 1942. This yard was Japanese-Canadian owned so this was likely their last boat. It was owned in 1978 by Jack Youden of Ganges, BC
- Ulf: built 1945 at Vancouver, BC, owned 1978 & ’92 by Brian M. Kohn, pic taken in 1990s, Canadian registry closed March 1999
- Valor: Greg Starr sent this beauty along and says, “I’m restoring a 1953 44′ troller into a cruizer, She was built in Langley BC. by a Louis Caseman. Was I think a 1970″s buy back. Reframed, planked and fastened in Port Townsend 2009 by Dave Thompson. Now at Point Defiance WA. Power is 6LW Gardner with 2UC Gardner gear. She’s getting a new from deck up house. She’s called VALOR.”
- Viking Magic: Looking very Canadian but registered in the US as a pleasure boat with builder unknown and year built left blank. In Canada a boat with the same name was built in 1979 in Delta, BC and came off the register in 1999. Anyone know the story? The Canadian boat belonged to Seppo Makkonen in 1992.
- Western Sea II: built by Nakade Boat Works in Steveston in 1969 and belonged to Kiyoshi Murakami in 1978.
- West Foreland: built by William Grundison, 1965, and Frank Fredette was the designer. Powered by a Gardner 6LW with a Capital transmission,
- Windward II built by Cyril Thames in 1967
- Zayas: Built 1966 by Wahl in Prince Rupert, owned 2010 by Sarah Chi Brown
